Teaching Philosophy

"As a dance educator, it is my duty to ensure that every student who walks into my classroom is empowered with the tools that they need to build their self-confidence. Movement builds confidence through allowing dancers to accomplish challenging things and express themselves.

When teaching, I strive to empower my students through movement, motivation, and by encouraging every dancer to step into their greatness. This is accomplished through allowing interactive experiences between student and teacher through the practice of creative movement, improvisation, and opportunities to work in groups that allow for problem solving. My philosophy is simple; I believe that a person does not need to fit into the restricting mold(s) of dance, rather dancers are meant to take movement and mold it to themselves. As such it is my priority to help dancers discover what they are passionate about within movement through diverse modalities of learning and an emphasis on the experience rather than perfection."
